Latest hotfix for IE6

How can I find out what the latest hotfix is without going to
windowsupdate.microsoft.com and letting it take over my computer

On one of the microsoft pages (I can't find it now), there was a link to
"Internet Explorer 6.0", and the top link was MS04-025, but I've googled
and I can find and MS05-014.

I'd like to be able to easily find the latest patch for IE if I could -
is this possible

Cool thanks. Hot off the press I see. I was actually interested in
the MS04-004 patch, to try the BypassHTTPNoCacheCheck here
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=323308#kb3
but that hasn't worked for me. I am viewing a website where one of the
images on the page must be set to no-cache, and I was trying to get it
to download to temporary internet files

Sorry, I missed that reference in your initial post.

No probs - I thought if I am patching my PC, I may as well go to the
latest I can. I've followed the instructions to the letter, and the
caching of one file is still not working, so thanks anyway

Your wording suggests to me that you don't know whether it is actually set.
Why not trace it and find out? Otherwise you won't know for sure if that hotfix
is applicable even if it is included in later versions of the patched module.

In fact I'm wondering if it necessarily would be available in XPsp2 because
I think that that version is when the option (in the Advanced tab, Security section)
Do not save encrypted pages to disk
first appeared. E.g. perhaps unchecking that more general option now substitutes
for the functionality provided by the hotfix?

In any case, you should make sure that you are getting the SP2QFE version
of the latest security patch's module or you might not be getting the current
implementation of the hotfix anyway.

Good luck
