Last Page Footer Only

I am having a issue with the last page footer formula field. This is what I
have for a field.

IF {PAGE} = {NUMPAGES} "TEST TEXT"

This works like it should by default. The time it does not work is when I
have a two page document ,and the footer does show only on the last page as
needed, but when the document is made to one page it does not show a footer at
all. Our default document is 2 pages, but it may be edited to remove body
text that makes it 1 page. What can be done to make it work all the time.

Thanks for all of your suggetions.

Does the document have "Different first page" enabled? If so, then the
single page would be getting the First Page Footer, while your field is in
the Footer; you'd need to replicate it in the First Page Footer.

I've noticed that fields such as you describe often don't update
automatically. Does the text display if you switch to Print Preview? This
forces Word to paginate the document and figure out that the page number is
the same as the number of pages.
