Laserjet Series II

I have a Series II printer connected through a parallel port. When printing
under XP, the computer slows terribly. I have used the printer for several
years on various computers and Operating Systems and have only encountered
this problem with XP. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?
 
check printer options , are you printing direct to printer? (which would
cause slowdown)

if so switch to "spooling"
