Laserjet 5000 print quality problem

Hi,

I have a LJ5000 which has a page count of just over 1 million pages.
Recently it has developed a print quality problem, which seems to be getting
gradually worse.

The print displays a very noticable light stripe down the left hand side of
every page is OK in the middle and then gradually fades toward the right
hand side of the page.

In addition there is a regular horizontal banding accross the print at
aprox. 0.25 to 0.3 mm intervals.

The printer has had two new (genuine) toners (from different batches) and a
new maintenance kit, including transfer roller and fuser unit since the
problem started, and these have had no effect what so ever.

I have also tried bending the paper guide that sits just under the toner to
straighten it, in case it was holding the toner off the paper, but this made
no difference either.

The problem happens printing from any tray, on anything from thin laser
paper to thick card.

What else could be causing the print problem?

Thanks in advance.

Brian.

Hi
This sounds like a dirty scanner problem! You could try cleaning it.

Hope this helps
