Large font looks ok in design but bad in preview

I am using a 48 point font in design mode which looks just fine - when I
preview it it appears to be in a lower resolution i.e. very pixillated. I
must be doing something stupid??

It has been my experience that the larger the font, the more "pixillated" it
looks by its nature.
If it's just a heading, you might want to make it a gif image in your image
editor.

Thanks for you reply Tom - I understand what you are saying, but it doesn't
quite tell me what's going on!
In design view a heading that I have looks just as I want it to - when I
switch to preview the font, although the same physical size on the screen, is
more "pixillated".
It is as though a higher resolution is used in design view than in preview.
Baffles me!
