Large clock ?

John Fitzsimons

Has anyone come across a program that allows one to fill up the screen
with an hour, minute, second clock ? It would be handy to see at a
distance the exact time on the computer when setting a clock's time
in another room.

Analog or digital. As long as it is easy to read from afar. An ability
to "ping" on the minute would be an added bonus.

Regards, John.

BigClock, homepage is not up (yet?) Nonags says:

"BigClock is an on screen clock with a timer! Though called BigClock, the
size is fully adjustable to whatever you want. A font size of about 250
will give you a full screen size, 20 will probably fit on your caption bar.
So have it in whatever font, color and size does the job for you! It is
designed to stay in front of anything on screen so it is normally in view.
You can show/hide the clock and set a range of date/time screen formats.
You can set the alarm to play a wav file, post a screen message and execute
a file. Run it on Startup and use it in place of the boring tray claock!"

It's big, it's a clock, I use it without any problems on win98SE.

ThroughClock
http://www2.odn.ne.jp/hamataro/ThClk/indexe.htm

One needs a couple of hours to set up all the details, work with each
customizable display element, to construct a final scheme which satisfies
the eye. (And I should note: Such satisfaction might be an impossible end
for some folks, those who have the type of taste which would cause them
to consider ThroughClock's appearance inescapably gaudy.)

(2)
ClockX
http://clocx.fi.cz/

It comes with a bundle of images to use for its face. As I recall, a few in
the pack are jumbo-size. But I only saved half-dozen schemes, none of the
jumbo, and my memory is not adequate here for me to be able to make strong
assurances that they'd be big enough to fit your needs.

An ability to "ping" on the minute would be an added bonus.

Not sure which you mean here.

A net connect ping? ThroughClock can do that.

Or a ping sound, recurrent, each minute? ClockX can do that.

BigClock has neither. It has a countdown alarm, but it can not be set
perpetual, and its alarm is in fact slightly problematic for other
reasons. Where Bigclock does well, it's for a large desktop digital
clock display. Choose any font and colors you wish. Position it anywhere.
Use a large font to spread it across your whole destop. Customize in
depth your time fields (and date also if wanted).

BigClock,

Rod, I saw your post only after having done a send + retrieve... I wasn't
being a CopyCat, contrary to how it looks. I plead Innocent. Hey, and Rod,
something I gotta remark: your freeware recommends are so fine, so apt. ;)

If you are using win98se (and possibly winxp) the choose the 3D Screen
Saver, and under the settings check the "use time" box.

Interesting...but I'm happy with the one I have.

This is really nice

I've long been an avid collector of computer timers/ alarms, and from
that angle, a feature from ThroughClock I find cool is the little (red)
arrow it puts near the appropriate ticker marks on the clockface to
represent impending alarms.

His mum calls him Derek.

I heard that's how Mum lists him in her OE address book too, for when
she >>>>>>> mass-forwards jokes, or sends him emergency memos on stuff
like the dangerous Jdbgmgr.exe
