laptop will not shutdown when an ethernet cable is plugged

hi can anybody help me

when i try to shutdown my laptop it will always restart when an ethernet
cable is plugged but when i unplugged the cable the laptop will now shutdown.

Verify that wake up LAN setting not enabled.
