Laptop will not go into Standby or Hibernate run XP

I am running Pub 2002 on two laptops one XP Home, the
other XP Pro and both experience same problem. When you
attempt to go to standby or hibernate you get a message
that the Keyboard driver is preventing system from going
into standby/hibernate, driver may need updating. I
reinstalled XP Pro on that laptop and system worked
normal until I installed Pub 2002. I checked the shutdown
after installing each software program. Any ideas would
be appreciated. I tried a restore but have never been
able to get a computer to except a restore point?

I have the same problem but it's my com1 port driver,
before it was my modem driver. Please let me know if you
figure this out.
