Hope someone can help. I was downloading norton antivirus 2006 everything
was going well until I had to restart the laptop. Now when I turn it on I
can't do anything. Its like it is running really slow. When I go to the
start bar the arrow turns to the egg timer so I can't get in. I have done
ctr alt del for the task manager and it eventually comes up after about
10mins but there is nothing running.

Hope someone can help as it is driving me nuts.

Thanks in advance

"downloading" refers to copying a file from a network server to your PC's
hard drive. Your post is consistent with "installing" vice "downloading".

You have a botched installation of NAV, maybe more "goodies" in the process.
The reason for such may be the system requirements for the 2006 version.

Software writers are moving away from 98/ME compatible software. Its going
to continue to get worse.

Get Norton out of there. Uninstall or Add\Remove plus check on the Symantec site for complete uninstall instructions. When done and all is back to normal throw away the Norton CD or try and give it back

Hi elmy.

Just some personal thoughts here.

From my own experience I can say that Norton in any kind is taking resources
and especially if you have "just enough" requiresments for running Norton. I
have seen many computers being slow with a huge delay in responding after
installing Norton. Don't get me wrong, it is probably a good application but
you should check if your PC is "good enough" for running Norton.

Otherwise...have you tried uninstalling Norton, or just tried to disable its
start in msconfig, to see if the problem goes away? Try troubleshoot with
msconfig
How to troubleshoot by using the System Configuration utility in Windows XP

Kind regards...Gunilla.

I've heard NOTHING good about NAV - get FREE Grisoft AVG.
