I apologize for posting this in two groups, but the laptop group I
posted in seems a bit less visited than this group - and I need to find
an answer very soon.
I've got a laptop here. It's a Dell Inspiron 1000.
When I boot up, the LCD screen looks as if it's not receiving a signal.
Looks like a bunch of horizontal lines that randomly fuzz and move
around. Looks like a television that cannot quite get a channel in.
I took the laptop apart and all connections seem good. After playing
with it for a while, I found that if I pressed either on the bottom of
LCD screen (the plastic case part) or on the sides (again on the
plastic) I could get the screen to display clearly and properly.
So, I took the LCD screen apart as much as I could. After prying open
the bottom edge of the LCD screen's hard plastic cover, I found a small
circuit board. I made a fine slice through some plastic (which I
assume is a filter of sorts) so that I could look at the board.
Everything looked OK, and after playing with it a little the screen
started to come in properly and clearly for long periods of times.
After watching it for a few hours, it seems that the LCD now comes in
properly and clearly until it goes into sleep mode. When I bring it
out of sleep mode, it comes back as the garbled mess.
Any ideas? Is this a LCD problem, onboard video problem, connection
problem...?
Thanks!
