I have a laptop and the desktop is suddenly very dim. It boots up properly, but you can barely see the screen...

Problem with LCD?

Consult the manual coming along with the laptop. Usually, there is a
special keyboard shortcut [Fn]+[...] controlling the screen brightness.

Not a Windows issue anyway.
