Laptop restarts despite 'Shut Down'

I am using Windows XP home edition on my Fujitsu-Siemens
Laptop.
Recently when trying to shut the computer down it
restarted instead.
I would appreciate any input on the reasons for that as
well as help on solving the problem. Reinstalling XP did
not work!

Hi Frank,

Disable everything that reads 'Wake up' in the BIOS settings. Also, I have
seen this behavior if you have a CD/DVD in the drive during a shutdown.
