Hi,

I have a laptop + PC Tower, I have the tower connected to laptop via a
ethernet cable so I can view towers files and folders on hard drive. But now
I want to access tower remotely via laptop so I can view towers dektop on
Laptop.

Does anyone know how to do this at all?

Many thanks in advance

If the tower is connected to a high speed Internet and has XP Pro on it, use
Remote Desktop. If the tower is behind a router (which it SHOULD BE) you'll
need to open RDP (TCP port 3389) to the tower PC.

THen from the Internet on your laptop, use the remote desktop connection to
connect to the public IP address.

If the tower has XP Home on it and not Professional, you won't be able to do
this and have to use something like VNC.

Unfortunetly my tower hasn't got an internet connection.

What is VNC? Virtual networking? If so how does that work. Both have got Win
XP pro.

Many thanks

If the tower PC is running XP Pro then you can us Remote Desktop. Call using
the tower PC's private LAN IP address.

If the tower PC is running XP Home then you can use VNC, as noted by Brian.
I recommend and use UltraVNC for this purpose. Get the server, client and
encryption plug-in from...
