Laptop consistency check on bootup every day

The last few times a Dell Latitude C610 Win2000 Pro laptop has booted it has
run this long drive consistency check. Then it boots OK. But the next day
it happens again. If you shut down and reboot it right after it does the
check, it works fine, but the next day it happens again. Does this mean the
drive is going bad? What utilities can I run to check what is wrong?

Thanks,
Mich

Go to Dell and download Dell Diagnostics.

If its an IBM Travelstar hard disk, you can also download and execute IBM Drive Fitness
Test (DFT).
If it is a Western Digital, you can download execute the Data Lifeguard Toold (DLGDIAG).
