EMachine M2350 , then when I tried to restart i see a black screen with the
options of starting normally or in safe mode an i tried booting from recovery
disk but it does the same thing. Is there any way to connect the drive to a

If you google "stop: 0x00000A1" you get hits.
One leads you to
http://forums.techguy.org/all-other-software/456384-blue-screen-after-windows-2000-a.html
and as much as its win2k a good portion seem to point to pci drivers.

I'm surprised Safe Mode does not allow you to boot and remove the recent
updates.

Hi there,

it is really hard when we do not have the tools on hand, well I don't have
the solution for your problem but I would like to suggest to:

1. Do the repair option booting from the Windows XP CD:
-- Boot from the CD, when you get to the part where you have to install
Windows XP
-- choose Setup Windows XP and when you get to the part where you have to
select in which partion you want to install windows XP select "Repair" this
will reinstall the whole system32 directory and driver files.
(note: at the begining of the setup you have the option "repair" this is not
the one we want to use, but the want where you have to select the partition
or disk for the install)
2.- Recovery: boot your computer using one of those Linux Distro like
Knoppix or other live CD. this will allow you to surf and recover your files
using a flsh drive.

Good Luck...

To add to my post and reply to one of your questions:
Yes, you can mount the drive into another machine as a 2nd or 3rd drive
and then get the data off for backup at least.
You do not have to format it there, XP on the load has the provision for
formatting at time of install.

Hi, I tried booting the laptop with an XP cd; no luck. It will not boot with
anything.

Enter the BIOS and set the boot order so the CD is polled before the
hard drive. Then the Windows CD might be seen.

There's a trick that sometimes works very well. Attach the drive to
another system, and in the root, locate pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys.
Delete them, empty the wastebasket.

Now, put the drive back in place, and restart. It may hang; if so, just
power off, then on again.

I've had this allow a number of machines to boot properly after events that
seem to have corrupted those files.

If it doesn't work, re-connect the drive to your desktop and back up your
files.
