I've been typing in English (U.S.) for many years. Suddently MS Word 2003 is
spell checking in French, and I can't get rid of it! Ugh! Even re-setting
the spell-check default to English (U.S.) doesn't resolve the issue.

Any ideas, anyone?

Select the entire text (Ctrl-A), and go to Tools > Language > Set
Language and click English (US) (even though it's already selected).

That'll fix it for this one file, anyway.
