I have just started up my computer to discover it is
displaying a different lanquage from english and i cannot
read anything from it. Everything has changed to what
looks like egyptian type symbols. Someone please help. I
had to use a friends laptop to get this message out.

Go to Control panel/Regional and Language options and set
it back to what you can read....

Hi,

I have already tried that and even though it is set for
english (UK) the computer still displays everything in
this weird language

.... and if very screen (even the welcome screen), and menu text all looks
like it was written by Tutankhamen's secretary, how in the hell is he
supposed to navigate to Regional/Language in Control Panel..

This happened to me recently too.. as luck would have it., my HDD needed
replacing anyway, so I did a clean install onto the new drive.. other than
booting from an XP cd and doing a repair install, or re-installing the OS
from scratch, I fail to see what else could be done, and await with interest
any replies other than from Queen Nefertiti or the kind of reply that you
have already had from Osiris.. :)

By reading the Hieroglyph :D
The Regional and Language Options has an icon that resembles a globe.
