LAN: Stuck in "Acquiring network address" state

Bert Hyman

I had to reboot my router and afterward I disabled and re-enabled the LAN
interface in "Network Connections". Now, it stays in the "Acquiring
network address" state. I've disabled and re-enabled the interface and
also tried "Repair", but it doesn't go away.

Funny thing is, my PC has a static IP address, the DHCP service is NOT
running, and the network connection is working just fine.

But it shows this status and there's this stupid icon in the task bar with
a little bouncing ball.

So, where's this nonsense coming from?

Not an answer but for interest your not alone.....

Since I've install SP2 and updated the firmware on my wireless linksys
router I've noticed mine does this sometimes too. It seems to be
working fine but says it's acquiring the network address.
If I open the network connections and look at the properties of the
TCP IP it usually goes back to being happy.

It doesn't seem to cause any problems though
