I have problem with internet connection sharing via a lan cable to my xbox

For a while I have been able to connect my xbox via the pc, but today i am
getting a message on the pc saying that there is limited or no connectivity.

I have tried to repair the conection, but it tells me that it can't renew
the IP address. The people at xbox thell me this is a networking issue and
cant really help me. How do i get it to reconnect? the xbox is set to aut
detect ip and dns and the like. its all very odd. there is no problem with my
internet connection on the host pc.

Garfunkal,

Start with "ipconfig /all" from the host pc.

When you setup the host pc, did you run the Networking Setup Wizard, and select
Option #1?

Under (Control Panel - Administrative Tools -) Services, look for a service
"Windows Firewall - Internet Connection Sharing" (if SP2), or for "Internet
Connection Firewall - Internet Connection Sharing" (if pre-SP2). Is that
service Started and Automatic? If not, try Starting it. If there's a problem
starting it, look in Event Viewer for details why it won't start.
