LAN needs repairing after 30 minutes

My internet connection continually drops out after 30 minutes and the
only way to reestablish is to repair the LAN using the repair function.
It is on my office server, a Realtek PCI card connected to a Verilink
8000 series VOADSL router. My server also has an onboard card that
runs my office network. I have no issues with the office network, just
the internet connection through the PCI card. I have replaced the card
but the same issue remains. Has it become corrupted somehow? Can it
be fixed by repairing/reinstalling XPPro SP2? I had a repairer look at
it and he said format! Can this be the only solution?
Any advice is appreciated

Check the Power Management tab on the proeprties of the NIC. By default it
is set to let the device (NIC) power down to save energy.

Brilliant I owe you a beer.
