Hello,

I have trouble networking two computers on my LAN.

I have two network cards installed.

One for WAN and one for my LAN.

My WAN is hooked up to my Firewall Router > Cable Modem.
This works fine.

But my LAN I am having trouble accessing the other
computer. My LAN network cards are set-up in my Network &
Dial-up Connection > Properties

TCP/IP computer 1: IP: 192.168.0.1 SUBNET: 255.255.255.0
TCP/IP computer 2: IP: 192.168.0.2 SUBNET: 255.255.255.0

Both computer are on the same NETGROUP= HOMELAN
And each computer name is diffrent.

I also set file sharing on the files I want to share with
each computer.

But when I search My Network Place > Computer Near Me it
comes up with this message: HOMELAN is not accessible. The
list of servers for this workgroup is not currently
availble.

I double check everthing and still I can't figure this out.
My LAN network card are hooked up to to a switch box
lights on cards are have the latest drivers.

Could some help me and tell me if I am missing step that I
did not list above.

Both OS are W2KPro with the latest service packs

Network cards are 3Com 3C920B-EMB Intergrated Fast
Ethernet Controler the other one is D-Link DFE-530TX+PCI
Adapter

Thanks

David

When you click Network Neighborhood, select entire
network, does it show your workgroup? If so does both
your computers show up?

Thanks Andy,

Yes they do and they are showing the same work group.

David

The only thing I can think is to make sure your part of
the workgroup - Right click My Computer > Properties >
Network Identification. Make sure your set to your
workgroup on both computers.
