I just installed winXP sp2.

Now my LAN-connection is failin´g. It doesn't get an ip-adress during
boot-up.

I looked for support and found:

Knowledge Base-artikel - 810606
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;810606

If I disable the Microsoft firewall (I have Sygate one running anyways) and
perform the "trick" recommended in the article:

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

the connection starts working again. But I have to do it again next time I
start the computer again. Apart from the error message everything seems to
be working.

Any Advice?

Thx in advance.

Open Control Panel (re-enable back the firewall), go to the exceptions tab
and make sure your ethernet connection is an exception.

Go into Startup and turn off Sygate... Then try it...
ZoneAlarm and other products wont allow a Lan or and
connection to start if the Version is not updated...

So try and update sygate or dont let Sygate to start-up on
restart.

You mean ... after installation of winxp sp2?
Because ther were never any problems with Sygate before.

Not exactly true. However, we found that the network connection was
delayed at startup with an older Sygate Personal Firewall. Our systems
would then properly connect, but the delay may be enough to stop yours
entirely. Sygate has an update on their site and that solved all issues
for us. All lan settings were retained, and we never had to change
them. Make sure the Windows Firewall is disabled, and tell Security
Center not to alert you about that so you don't get the balloon
warning.
