Hi

How many computers can I see or conncet to using XP Home? No domain, but a
normal network connected via switches.

I read somewhere that a maximum of 5 computers could be connected using XP
Home?

Thanks.

I believe it is 5 or 10 incoming connections.
support.microsoft.com and search for maximum connections
windows xp home.

Yes, 5 is maximum for inbound connection is said.

Now, If I host a Quake 3 session, then only 5 users may join the game at the
same time? The game itselfs allows 8 players (dedicated 16 players). If I'm
correct then this is a good explanation why so few uses Home edition.

i belive up to 20, but only 10 can be active at one time.
i would not recommend more than 5.

connected using XP

No, that's wrong. There is no limit on the number of outgoing
connections, but there is a limit on the number of incoming
connections: 5 for XP HE, and 10 for XP PRO.

If you continue to create outbound connections, you will eventually
run out of some resource, but that is not a connection limit.
