Lan adapter conflicts

I

Ida Samuel

I am trying to setup a home network between my pc which
has Windows XP and my son's pc which has Windows ME
installed. So far I have had no success no matter how
carefully I follow the instructions in the Help and
Support pages. This morning I tried again and found that
the 'ping' times out, 4 parcels get send from my pc but I
get nothing back. So I tried to find out if my Intel(R)
PRO/100 S Desktop adapter is ok with Windows XP but I
cand find the info anywhere on the site that I got linked
to. I am about to give up and get a proffesional in to do
it all for me but I would feel very defeated. Much thanks
to anyone who has any answers for me.

try to ping the computer self first. if it works, ping other computer. if
not, re-set the network or tcp/ip. otherwise, post the result of ipconfig
/all here.
