Lack of resources to install printer!

B

Bob H

Hi,
I have recently had to re install my win2k OS onto a new HD, as the
other one failed, and now I want to add a network printer, as I did
before. When I open up the 'printers' box and dbl click on 'Add printer'
an error message appears telling me that:
'Printer operation cannot continue due to lack of resources. The print
subsystem is unavailable'
Uh, why is this? It is a brand new installation with hardly any software
on it.
Help please, this shouldn't be happening.
Thanks

This error indicates a problem with the Print Spooler service - typically it
is not running.

Check that the Print Spooler service is running
Start > Settings > Control Panel
Administrative Tools > Services
Find the service "Print Spooler".
Check that it is set to "Automatic" start-up.
If it is not running then start it (right click it and select "Start")
