LaCie USB2.0 Hard disk

I'm having problems with a portable USB2.0 hard disk, I run Windows XP Pro.
When I plug it in, PC finds it, but doesn't recognise it. Installs it, then
comes up with an error.
Tried it on both from & rear USB ports. Windows XP has all available updates.

Tried it on an identical PC running same version of Windows XP & it works
1st time.
All other USB devices work OK
Any suggestions thanks?
 
If you have SP2 you need to update firmware for LaCie drive
Visits their support website.
