labels won't print

I have been having trouble printing labels created with Word 2000. After I print the labels using the labels template, I hit print and my printer idoes nothing. I have a HP Deskjet 855C. The resume light starts blinking. When I hit the resume light nothing happens, then the window with the created labels starts flashing. I contacted HP because I thought it was the printer and tried all of their solutions-none of which worked. Help. I used to create all my labels with Word 2000.

If you have it, this could be yet another of the cock-ups caused by the
Norton AV office plug-in. If you have Norton, you could start by disabling
its plug-in.

I do have Norton Av, I'm not sure that I have the office plug in..how can I tell and how do I disable it?

Thanks... How do I tell if I have the plug in...I do have NAV and how do I disable it?
I am not very computer literate with some of these things!!!!

If you have Norton AV, the plug-in is active by default. From Norton AV >
options > miscellaneous. Uncheck the box against Office Plug-in. Your system
security will not be compromised.

Flashing usually occurs when another window that requires user input opens
behind the current window. Norton AV is a usual cause of this, but other
add-ins will do so also. If your version of Word is part of Works suite, the
Works add-in is another offender. You will find removal instructions at

My Word program is part of Office 2000...any other ideas??????? I'm sure it is something simple that I need to click but I can't figure out what.. Upuntil 2 weeks ago I was using the Word label template to make all my labels.

It is almost certainly not something simple that you can click. Something is
interfering with the way Word should work - try the measures suggested at

Is it possible that you have the labels set for manual feed, and the
printer is expecting you to feed the paper through a particular slot?

I thought that was the problem too, so I checked and re-checked but the printer is set on the default
