Kudos to This Group

I just want to say that finding this group is the best thing that has
happened to me in a long time.

I have been teased by the damned bulletin boards on the Microsoft
website for years. The site promises you can get quick, easy solutions
to your problems simply by asking other users, then they run you
through the mill just to sign up. Every time I've managed to finally
get to the point where I can post a question, there's some technical
problem and all my hopes go out the window. Meanwhile, I've lost
another half hour filling out forms.

Thank you a million times to the person who started this group, and to
all those who scan it each day to help others have a better Word
experience.

Tom seems to have discovered Google Groups. I would guess, from looking at
his header, that his problem with the Microsoft Communities site may be that
he is using Netscape. If so, this should be reported.

Note that you are posting to the same newsgroup that you would have been
accessing through the Microsoft site; as Graham says, it's even easier if
you use an NNTP newsreader.

Really? So how come Microsoft puts you through so much hassle to get
here?

BTW, I am using IE, not Netscape.

I was evidently misled by this line in your message header (no doubt created
by Google Groups): X-HTTP-UserAgent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0;
Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322),gzip(gfe),gzip(gfe)

I'm not sure what you mean by 'hassle'. If you want to use the web
interface on the Microsoft site to access the newsgroups there is a
simple 'sign up' process.

If you already have a .Net Passport then all you need to do is log in.
If you don't have a .Net Passport then all you have to do is provide a
username and valid email address to obtain one. I tested the sign on
process many many times and the only thing I found difficult was the
'human validation' process which involves typing text you see in an
image. (The difficult part was deciphering the text. lol)

Could you provide some additional details? I can pass this information
along to those responsible for the web interface. If you'd prefer to
email me directly then use (e-mail address removed) (remove NoSpam4Me
to obtain a valid email address).

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.

I believe that it should be org instead of com in the second last paragraph
of your post.
