I'm working on a machine that has XP sp1 and whatever the latest ver
of IE 6 is (via windows update). This machine is a Gateway notebook,
about 9 months old. It's had this issue ever since Korean language
support was installed for IE. That is, that while in English, in IE,
there are many characters displayed incorrectly as in:
젨쟓ename쟴o:?
Which is Rename To:? in English but as viewed on this machine has
three Korean characters interspersed (I'm not sure how the line I
posted above will display on any readers pc as it would be a function
of the lang packs and bugs in effect on that system). Another ruinous
defect is that a backslash comes out as a W with a line through it.
So, the multilangue support in IE is pretty foul I guess? I don't see
patches offered for this. I do see other messages going back at least
a couple of years about the same defect, with little or no solutions
offered.
In the list of languages in IE, English is listed first.
Thanks
