Kodak Imaging on XP? Stamps disappear.

Hi,

I have successfully installed Kodak Imaging from my old Win2k CD on my new
XP and it works. I need it mainly to view TIFFs that contain more than one
page per file (scanned documents).

When I use Rubber Stamps to make annotations and I define new stamps, they
disappear from the list of available stamps after restarting imaging
although they are still present in the registry.

Any idea where to look?

Is there a new XP (commercial) version of Kodak imaging available?

TIA

The best way to answer that is to look on Kodak's website:

http://www.kodak.com/

I don't see a version of the old Kodak Imaging software. I do see
something called "Easy Share" which is free and might suit you.
Otherwise, maybe it's time to look around for a different image
management program. If you just want to view images, Irfanview is free
and will let you view thumbnails so you can see more than one image at
a time. Get it at www.irfanview.com.

Thanks. In the meantime I found out it ended up with eiStreams, formerly
Eastman Software, they still have it available at USD 169 a license...

Irfanview doesn't handle multi-page TIFFs nearly as easy as Imaging for
Windows :-( so I still prefer to know why the stamps disappear with the
version I got.

Wild guess: the program installed OK, but in the process installed a
component locally that conflicts with the same component called from
another location by the system, rendering the program unable to access
the changes it makes in its files. You might run sfc /scannow from a
command prompt and perhaps it might find the offending component and
replace it, but if it is a locally installed component, that will
probably fail to cure the problem. The issue is that the installer does
not recognize the new OS and is not programmed with the proper steps to
avoid conflicts. You really need a program that was written with XP as
an installation OS option.

Probably because the program wasn't written for XP and it just doesn't
behave properly. Sorry.

Cheers anyway,
