@ is above the No 2 and I want it at '.Hope this makes sense!

It sounds like you need to set the right language for the keyboard. Use
Control Panel> Regional Language Options> Languages tab>Details. Under
Installed services, click Keyboard and then click Add. Select English UK
from the list. Also on this page set the default input language to the
same, then OK your way back to the desktop.
