keyboard shutdown

refomatted my drive then loaded windows xp upon reboot from cd keyboard goes
die
screen says press any key to boot from cd

Sounds to me like you are still within the Windows installation pocess,
which reboots at some point. DO NOT press any key at this time - let
Windows do what it needs to do.

After installation is really complete, remove the CD from the drive, so
that you are not prompted with this message again.

HI THANKS FOR REPLY, WHAT IS HAPPENING IS THIS. I LOAD XP THE FIRST TIME IT
PROMPS YOU THAT COMPUTER WILL RESTART IN, IT BEGINS TO COUNT DOWN, IT
RESTARTS TO BEGIN TO LOAD XP. AT THIS POINT PRESS ANY KET TO LOAD CD COMES
UP,BUT KEYBOARD IS OFF?

Two hours is a "bit" long - two minutes should be more than enough
before you see some action.

So let's see if I understand this. You get the message "PRESS ANY KET
TO LOAD CD" and then what, it just sits there forever?

I assume everything is working correctly when you start the Windows
install process. i.e., your keyboard and mouse work, yes? Are you using
a USB keyboard? Mouse? Is your mouse working when you get stuck?

Oh yes, I forgot. Disconnect all external devices before you start the
Windows install, and add them after the installation is satisfactorily
completed.
