Keyboard Shortcuts - Ctrl+Shift+Down Arrow

Hi,

I like to use the keyboard shortcuts when entering formulae, or
selecting ranges for the charts, as it makes entering them 10x faster
(i.e. Ctrl+shift+down, ctrl+shift+right etc), but I find occasionally
they stop working (as has just happened) Don't suppose anyone has an
explanation as to why they occasionally don't work?

Cheers,
Kate

The selection stops at a blank cell?

But "don't work" doesn't mean much without explaining what occurs.......or
does not occur.

Apologies if I wasn't clear - I know that the ctrl+shift+down is
supposed to stop at a blank cell.

My problem is that sometimes (when entering formuale or selecting a
range for a graph), the keyboard shortcuts won't work. For example,
I'll press ctrl+shift+down, but the "marching ant" highlighting will
stay on the original cell (in the case of graphing).

I haven't been able to identify consistently what makes this occur, I
was hoping that someone may have had a similar experience? I
initially thought that I was accidentally pressing "scroll lock", but
this doesn't seem to be the case.

It has happened several times to me today, while I am working with
files which have been imported from txt. I wonder if this is the
problem? i've tried saving, closing & reopening, but this doesn't
seem to wake the shortcuts up either.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Kate

I have just done some more testing & it seems that the import of txt
files might be (at least one of) the causes. If I create a file with
dummy data, I can create a scatter plot (using keyboard shortcuts) no
trouble. However, if I import in a text file (File > Open > *.txt) &
then copy the worksheet across to my workbook with dummy data, I can't
use the keyboard shortcuts (on any sheet). I tried copying & pasting
the imported data (instead of copying the worksheet across) and I get
the same problem.

I'm using excel 03 as well (for what it's worth).

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Kate
