Keyboard not functioning

I have a Compaq laptop with Windows 2000 and the keyboard
is not working at all. I have tried booting up in every
possible mode, safe, command prompt and nothing seems to
work. It's like the keyboard and built-in mousepad are not
there.

The laptop had Itouch software loaded on it and it was
causing some problems, so I uninstalled it and installed
Synaptics touchpad software. Since then, the keyboard has
not worked. It boots up fine, no errors or anything, but
when I get to the login prompt I can't hit ctrl-alt-del to
login.

I have tried last known good configuration and it still
doesn't work.

I have access to the PC through an admin share and I have
been able to delete everything having to do with
Synaptics, registry included, and that didn't work.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Josh

Try an external keyboard. If it works, unplug the external
keyboard, then do this:
- Boot with a Win98 boot disk from www.bootdisk.com.
- If the keyboard works then you have a Win2000 problem.
- If the keyboard dos not work, take the machine to
a Compaq repair centre.
