Tom

This may not be the right place for this, but here goes.
There are several persons using one computer at work,
spread over three shifts. Each has their own password.
New computer today. I put in my new "shortcuts", keyboard
macros. They save me considerable amount of time over my 8
hour shift. Problem: Everyone else wants to use my
shortcuts, but no one else can get to them. Somehow we did
this before, but I don't know how to let all users have
access to the shortcuts. The person who followed me today
went to "tools", "macros" and there wasn't anything there.
Please help.

Hi Tom

I assume you saved your macros in the Normal.dot template. Each user has a
separate Normal.dot, and saving into one copy doesn't change any of the
others.

We don't usually recommend copying one user's Normal.dot and overwriting
others, because that loses whatever customization the other users had in
their copies. Since this is a new computer, though, there isn't likely to be
anything to lose. So...

Log in as the administrator (or at least someone in the Administrator
group). Use Explorer's Search function to locate all the copies of
Normal.dot. They should be in folders with names like

C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

where <user> represents each user's login name. Make a copy of each one, in
the same folder as the original, just in case something gets lost.

Copy the Normal.dot from the folder with your user name, and paste it into
the other users' folders. Log out, then log in as one of the regular users.
The macros should be available for each user.

If there are other things (styles, AutoText entries, custom toolbars) that
were in the other users' templates and have disappeared, you can use the
Organizer to copy them back from the saved copies of the original templates.
