Last night nodded off at computer with the shift key down and it toggled the
keys. Tried to fix but no luck. Now keyboard doesn't work in windows but
will allow me to log on to the computer but cannot type in windows.

Hi,
Is the Regional Settings for the keyboard set to English UK?
Maybe you accidentally set it to a foreign one and your kyboard doesnt like
it.
Report on news ;)

Hi,
Checked that and it is not the problem. I am able to log on and type in my
password but once I enter windows I cannot type. When I try to type I get
nothing.

ok,
go to start > Control Panel > Switch to classic view > Keyboard > Hardware
Tab > Properties (befor pressing properties check that Device Status is
"Working Properly") > Driver tab > Uninstall and press OK.
Now reboot and wait for it to install drivers then try again

tried that and it did not work either.

Strangest thing. Left computer and walked away for a few minutes, computer
went into hibernation mode and when the mouse was moved the keyboard worked
again. Thanks for your response.
