Keyboard inserting x's at random

jg2005

My keyboard has started inserting x's at random. I have reinstalled
the drivers, changed USB ports. It is a newish StarKey keyboard & I
use XP Pro SP3. I use Bullguard Internet Security Suite, SpyBot,
SpywareBlaster, Adaware.

Realise I can just buy a new one but I wonder if anyone knows what it
could be?

Dirt under the X key? Cracker crumbs under the X key? Coffee spilled on
the keyboard under the X key?

Get one of those spray cans of compressed air, shoot it under the keys --
or -- if there are screws in the bottom of the keyboard, remove them, take
the keyboard apart, and blow the crap out of it.

Hi

Thanks for reply. I have checked the points you raised including
taking the keyboard apart, still the same problem.

What is happening is that I may be typing the word - elephant - e.g.
and as I type each letter x"s are inserted as I type so it may read -
elxxexxxxxxxxxxxphantxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx or similar.

Cheers

Does the same thing happen with a different keyboard? If not, replace the
keyboard. If yes, please post back.

I decided not to waste any more time & replaced the keyboard, & the
supplier kindly did so without charge. Thanks for replies.
