Keyboard freezing

Greetings,

Using XP SP2, I have a redundant problem. The keyboard stop working at
everynow and then. I have to use the "restore points" to be able to get
back on a previous system state which worked but the problem is always back
several hours later.

I have scanned for virus with AVG and AVAST.
I have scanned for spyware with Spybot 1.4.
I did a chkdsk c: /f /r. but didn't fix the problem yet.
I have tried a repair install which failed since the keyboard wasn't working
so I couldn't enter the serial number and such.

What did I miss ?

It could be that your keyboard is 'dying'. Can you try a different one
instead? (Don't forget to turn pc off before changing keyboard).

Of course I tried a different keyboard!! Same result
