Keyboard characters

Its been a long day and I've just loaded XP onto my laptop but certain
characters dont match the keyboard. I've set it up for English (uk).
For example when I press @ for emails I get ". I just cant remember how
to solve this problem
 
mee too, i want to know!
i really need it to be able to type a pound sign into a password feild,
where pasting is disabled in the feild.
 
Have you tried ALT+0163
