Keyboard and Mouse problems

D

Don Lee

I keep having my keyboard and mouse randomly (and I do
mean randomly as I have not noticed any correlation
between programs, times of day, duration of use, etc...)
stop funcitoning correctly. They arent "locked" such that
I cant type anything at all or move the mouse, but rather
the caps lock comes on (which I can not turn it off),
random letter stop working, and and the mouse wont let me
highlight text. This is a system wide problem that also
just as randomly resolves itself.

Is this an XP issue or a hardware issue? Could the fact
that I have forign language support installed be causing
the problem? Or maybe I need to get different
keyboard/mouse drivers? Please help!

Hi

Have you upgraded to the latest XP compatible drivers via the appropriate web sites?

Although Mr. Denny's suggestion is always a good one, I find that random
errors tend to indicate hardware problems. A good way to troubleshoot
this is to attach a different mouse/keyboard and see if that solves the
problem. Make *one* change at a time and then observe what happens. If
you change the mouse and things still don't work, put the original
mouse back and now change out the keyboard. I doubt that your foreign
language support is causing problems, but certainly you need to
troubleshoot that, too. It could be a combination of the fl software
and the drivers conflicting. I'd start with hardware, though.

Good luck,

Malke
