Keyboard after boot

Hi all,

One of the boxes we've built uses keyboard commands to shut down the
box. However, the circuit that generates the keyboard commands does not
respond to incoming keyboard related signals (ie: XPE does not detect
the keyboard at boot).

Bearing in mind that I don't have the option to change the circuit at
this point, what can be done? Can the keyboard driver be fooled? Can we
force detection of a keyboard during boot?

One way would be to use keyboard driver sources from DDK and modify them.
