With Windows 95 and 98, one could stop programs from loading by holding down
the shift key.

Is there a key or key sequence on Window 2000 or XP to stop processes or
programs to start during Windows startup?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

In Win2k/WinXP, holding down the Shift key will stop applications in
the "Startup" folder from launching.

For other launch mechanisms (e.g. the Run key in registry), I don't
think there exists a key sequence that will suppress them.
