Kernel_Stack_Inpage_Error

I recently added an Ultra Mini Portable Disk to my HP Pavilion a450n, Windows
XP SP2 Home system via a Firewire cable. Both the computer and the drive
worked perfectly. On Friday, Norton Antivirus started its weekly scan and my
machine "blue-screened" with the following error: Kernel_Stack_Inpage_Error
Stop: 0x00000077 (0xc000000e, 0xc000000e, 0x00000000, 0x014a7000). I found a
knowlegebase article, ID# 315266 that suggested a hardware failure, cabling,
etc. This system never blue-screened prior to installing the drive.

Are there any known issues using an Ultra hard drive enclose with a Firewire
cable on a SP2 Home system? I sent a note to Ultra technical support and
they told me there is a problem with a driver in SP2. Does anyone know if
this is correct?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Isn't this message usually caused by a faulty driver? Since the problem
only started after you installed that software, it would seem that the
latest driver is not quite ready for prime time.
I'll bet that Ultra didn't say it was their driver though.

Thanks for the reply Jim. The drivers are built into Windows XP/2000. There
are no drivers provided by Ultra.
