keeping icons grouped in folders

Hello -

I prefer to arrange icons for numerous programs by program
type within a primary folder (e.g., graphic programs all
together, statistic programs together, etc.). I manually
arrange the icons. However, every time I log off, change
users, or turn off the computer, upon returning I find
that the icons have been automatically sorted by type and
I have lost my arrangment.

I checked the "remember each folder's view settings"
and "restore previous folder settings at logon" boxes in
the folder options menu, but this doesn't seen to work.

How can I keep my icon arrangments? I didn't have this
problem in previous versions of Windows.
Thanks,
M. Miller

This may help: Delete the Registry keys
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\BagMRU, both with
all the subentries, then create new keys "BagMRU" and "Bags" here. At
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam create a new
DWORD entry
BagMRU Size
and set this to
5000 (decimal)
Restart the computer. Re-setup your folders.
