Hi Guys,
A bit of advice please, arranging icons on my desktop. What setting do I
have to use to allow me to position the icons where I want them. At present
it is auto arrange, and I can't find out where to switch auto arrange off.
Thanks for you help

Right click on the desktop and you should see "arrange icons
by >" with a pop-out menu.

Right click on your desktop. Go to "arrange icons by". If Auto Arrange
is checked, check it again. That will turn auto arrange off. If you
want to check it again you should see that Auto Arrange is no longer
checked.

Right click an empty spot on the Desktop and select Arrange icons by, Remove the check mark fron Auto Arrange and Align to grid. This will allow you to place the icons wherever you wish.

There is also a free utility that will make keeping the icons where you want them very easy.
Go to the following website and scroll down to Line 188, right side. Click the "Add save and restore desktop layout to menu" link to download the .zip file. Unzip the file and double click the "iconlayout.vbs file to run the utility. This will add a "Save desktop icon layout" and "Restore desktop icon layout" to the right click context menu for the desktop.
