keeping files after using recovery disk

password was forgotten and the only way to log on to xp is to reinstall I think. if not help me with that. can not log on so can't do anything.Then I put in the recovery disk it should restore it back to the way it came from the manufacturer.I will do that but if there is a way to save some files I would like to do that. Can any one help with this big problem.
 
If no password was ever given simply press the enter key whe
prompted.
