I just received some new pc's with Windows XP Pro & Service Pack 2. I am
having a problem with them losing their network connections throughout the
day. I don't have any problems with my XP Pro machines with Service Pack 1
installed on them. Any ideas how I can correct this problem??? Thanks in
advance!!

Do the computers lose connection to all servers, and the network as a whole,
simultaneously? Do they lose connectivity when idle, or when in use?

Are the new computers different hardware? Different network cards? Different
firmware? Do you have the latest firmware for the network cards, from the
vendor?

Hi Chuck,
They are all Dell Optiplex GX620 and all have the same network adapter which
is a
Broadcom NetXterme 57xx Gigabit Controller. I have checked and the firmware
is all up to date. When they lose connection, they lose the whole network
connection, mapped drives, internet, etc.
I did run the command: ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew but that
didn't seem to help at all. They don't all go down (usually when they are
idle) at the same time so a problem being within our network has been ruled
out. I also have all the power options turned off. Any more suggestions???

Are you getting these computers customised by Dell? Have you worked with Dell
on this? What has Dell Tech Support suggested to date?
