Intermittent network share problems

I am using Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition and various Windows XP Pro
machines. One Windows XP machine keeps losing the permissions to open the
network shares from the server. It work's fine most of the day but every now
and again it asks for the users credentials. The XP machine is part of the
domain and the user has permissions to open the share. Any ideas as to what
migh cause this to happen? I originally thought it may be down to a slow
wireless connection but have switched to wired and the problem persists? Next
I thought it could be down to an overloaded DC but I have lightend the load
and again the problem persists.
