KB826939 hotfix

I've downloaded Windows Update a number of times and it
finishes with success. The update also appears in
Add/Remove software. However, I keep getting an update
message which states that I need to install this update
(again).

Any suggestions?

I was getting the same results - until this morning (10/30) - now the update
does not appear - not sure why - just grateful.
I had tried several of the suggestions listed in this group and nothing
worked.
