Hi

We had a problem with rras registering another address in
DNS for the server which stopped internal clients
connecting to the server on its correct address. We have
followed this article but im not sure what the
implications are with dns from now on. It states at the
end of the articles

"after you complete this procedure you must maintain the
HOST (A) records for the domain in its forward lookup
zone and the Global HOST (A) record that is located in
_msdcs.gc.domain name.com

Does this mean that clients will no longer register with
dns or does it mean that we will now have to manually
change the entries in dns for just the server we have
done this on.

Thanks

Nick

If you performed the steps under the "How to Prevent Netlogon A Records
from Being Registered" section of that article, then your DC will stop
automatically registering its HOST records to DNS. These are the server
hostname records, like server1. These records are necessary, so you
need to make sure they exist and no one deletes them. Or if the IP of
the DC changes that you update the records appropriately.
